Waguli Lodge 318 is starting to plan and work on a Year-round Hiking Trail on Camp Sidney Dew that the Lodge would like to take Ownership of; this Trail will be named the Whippoorwill Trail and will become many miles of different Section and Intensity Levels of Trails around camp. To begin with this Trail will be a Work-in-Progress and the Whippoorwill Trail will never be a Finish project. So what we as Waguli Lodge 318 would like to start with is working on the Trail in different section that are being planned out by the Lodge LEC and the Whippoorwill Trail Committee. We are going to be setting up Workdays for the Whippoorwill Trail throughout the next few months and years, to continue the improvement of the Trail this were the Lodge will need your help to make this Whippoorwill Trail Project a Successful program for Camp Sidney Dew and the Northwest Georgia Council. The main benefit of the Whippoorwill Trail is to provide a Year-round Safe Hiking Trail. You can bring your Unit out to Camp Sidney Dew park and enjoy a good hike with the Safety of not worrying about your vehicle and the public on the Trail. Units will have the access to Drinking Water, access to Educational Material around the Whippoorwill Trail, PLUS Units will have access to Emergency Contact with the Camp Ranger all along the Trail. Last but not least Waguli Lodge 318 is planning on Establishing Primitive Campsites and Picnic areas along the Whippoorwill Trail. The Lodge Committee for the Whippoorwill Trail has started an Adopt-A-Trail Program for Units to Adopt a portion of the Trail to help maintain the Trail. The Lodge is also Starting a Whippoorwill Trail Steward Program. The Trail Stewards are Scout and Scouters that are very familiar with the trails and have a long standing relationship with the Ranger staff. All service visits and projects must be pre-approved by the Trail Committee and Trail Steward. Because of the busy camp schedules, this approval should be done at least 30-days before the work day. The Trail Steward will coordinate with the Unit Contact person. The Trail Steward will work with the Trail Committee and Camp Rangers to ensure that materials, tools and safety briefings are ready for the work crew when they arrive.
