Congratulations
First and foremost, congratulations on your election to the Order of the Arrow. You have shown dedicated service, leadership, and have lived by the Scout Oath and Law to be selected by your fellow scouts to join the Order. This is a huge honor, and Waguli Lodge looks forward to your participation as a member. The Lodge offers several opportunities for scouts to grow and develop in their leadership, but first you must complete the Ordeal to become a member of the Order of the Arrow.
The Ordeal Experience
After being selected for membership, candidates may participate in a call-out ceremony to recognize those Scouts and Scouters that were selected before they attend their Ordeal. The call-out ceremony is performed at summer camp (preferably Camp Sidney Dew). Candidates subsequently participate in an Ordeal induction, intended to emphasize service, self-sacrifice, and reflection. The Ordeal is an overnight experience, performed at Ordeal Weekend. After the Ordeal, candidates are then welcomed as Ordeal members in a formal induction ceremony. During the ceremony they will receive their Ordeal sash. Following their Ordeal Weekend, Arrowman 101, the new member orientation, is held, where candidates learn about the Order of the Arrow and Waguli Lodge, and receive their handbook, lodge flap, and new member guide.
The cost for the Ordeal is $50 and includes food for the weekend, an event patch, an Ordeal sash, a lodge flap, an OA handbook, a new member guide, and dues until the end of the year. Ordeal is held twice: Ordeal Weekend (August 9-11) and a make up Ordeal is held at Spring Pow-Wow (March 6-8).
What to Bring
Candidates should bring A Field Uniform, regular camping gear, work cloths, toiletries, work gloves, a ground cloth or tarp, water bottle, your medical form, and rain gear. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email Waguli Lodge at wagulilodge@gmail.com.
