Building a Legacy of Cheerful Service
This year we will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Waguli Lodge. To commemorate the occasion, we urge all members of Waguli to commit themselves to unselfish service throughout the year. The purpose of the Legacy Project is to encourage all Waguli Arrowmen to help us leave a lasting legacy in Scouting, in the Community, and at Camp. Through initiatives such as the Legacy Award, and the service projects below, we hope to have completed 5000 hours of cheerful service by the end of the year. But we can't do this without you!
Whippoorwill Trail
One of our projects for 2020 is to complete the main loop of the Whippoorwill Trail! The main barrier to us completing this task is a section of the trail going up to the Eagle's Nest. We are making plans to clear a section of road up to the Eagle's Nest, and work our way from there. When complete, the trail will be a 7+ mile backpacking route all across camp!
OA Lodge Renovations
During the 2020 year, we hope to install water to the Lodge, and build bathrooms there. In addition to supporting the Lodge during OA functions, it will aslo support our council's handicraft program at summer camp.
Westin Lodge Renovation
The renovation of Westin Lodge is a long term project, but we are hoping to have it mostly complete by the end of 2020. We will be renovating the interior, repairing the decking, and removing and replacing the tin roofing. In the future, Westin will be used to support summer camp, and in other seasons as a multi-purpose facility for Camp.
Legacy Award
In order to encourage dedicated service throughout our 75th anniversary year, we have implemented the Legacy Award, which is earned by completing 15 hours of cheerful service to each of three categories: service to Scouting, service to Camp, and service to the community; or, by completing 5 hours in each of those categories, and making a donation of $50 to the Lodge service fund.
